Why Time & Newsweek Will Never Be The Economist

The American news weeklies Time and Newsweek used to be what everyone in the U.S. read to keep up on the news. Their international editions have long been popular overseas. But they just aren't what they used to be. Now there's talk that they want to be more more like the British-based Economist . Just won't happen, says this media report from Vanity Fair magazine. "There are only so many Americans who actually care about international news."

A global problem?

The problem is not about being similar .. its about "To Be or not to be" .. if a magazine or a newspaper wants to be succesful, worthy and attractive , it should know how to reach people and how to send the message in a better way, either with local or international news.
Nowadays there are many stories are happening almost in every part of the world which needs to be covered and people need to know about because somehow in any way there may be a relation between the story in the other country with the country your living in which may be important to it, and it may be the reason behind it's failur or success .
The U.S media have to have a general coverage on global news because the news nowadays is not about the U.S itself, its about the whole world.

But how can magazines and newspapers tell all these international stories in the far reaches of the world in a compelling way that makes us want to read them -- and to care about what's going on?

i dont think that all the international stories have to be covered .. only main/major stories which are covered in the whole media or may be related to the region.. or the stories that they feel that it may get the readers atenttion , they may know that by communicating with the readers and know there opinions and that may be by research or surveys
