We shall not cease from exploration/
And the end of all our exploring/
Will be to arrive where we started/
And know the place for the first time./
Through the unknown, remembered gate/
When the last of earth left to discover/
Is that which was the beginning...
T.S. Eliot, Little Gidding V
i see there is a big revolution and development in publishing. An ebook is perhaps still a small percentage of new book sales, but I'm sure it is a large and growing percentage of backlist sales. This is why I am not certain that Amazon is loosing money on ebooks they don't significantly discount backlists and they sell very well when they are available. any one today can publish a book or claim himself as an auther. the digital future will be a good way for reader because they will pay less, while authors will earn more.
Dr.J i think that no one has perfected the ebook business plan yet. Most of things that will impact sales and success are the same things that impact print sales and success like quality material at a good price and deliver that material to your potential customers impact a lot. the majority of authors just make a living wage off of limited, printbased writing. The worldwide access promised by the web could be the single greatest benefit to authors and this will help them to earn moree. but some authors will no doubt discover that the digital model does not benefit them as much as the print model did.
I agree with what Fatima when she said said "Readers will pay less, while authors will earn more". This is a good way in pulling everyone to read, to write, and to publish their own books.
people who are addicted to reading will benefit the authors that they usually read for. As I see, authors also should put good prices for their books in order to attract more readers because not all people can pay too much on books, but they want to read such these books.
