As long as it feels good in your hands.....

This post really belongs on the Mirror blog, but I can't resist because the magazine involved is Newsweek , which long has been an important international news weekly. It is published in several languages, including Arabic. But soon nothing will be the same about the publication, launched in 1933 and now owned by The Washington Post . The new design, coming next week, "is meant to be less daunting, more entertaining and easier to navigate," writes assistant managing editor Kathleen Deveny. "It will be printed on higher-quality paper, which instantly will make it feel better in your hand. I think the new design is sophisticated and airy, and makes the stories we work so hard on seem more inviting." Well, as long as it feels good.

It is good for newspapers to redesign their papers and apply new strategies and ideas from time to time in order to get the audiences attention and avoid boredom. Not only the newspapers but also Magazines and TV stations as they should be updated to new demands and needs of the time.
For example, Zahrat Al khaleej magazine (a women magazine) now they redesign the magazine and add new pages and get rid of some, this was on its 30th birthday.

BTW, for me the quality of papers really affects my choice of the book or the thing that I read. Sometimes I like a book but because its papers are hard I change my mind and I don’t buy it.
Also, I always like the part of the newspapers where the papers are soft and kind of glossy. :)

It's a good that they're redesigning it. With all the high-tech advancements we're experiencing, and all the developments, I think people's expectations are going higher, the bar is being raised. Hopefully the new design will now attract more readers from all generations.

Good luck Newsweek !

newspapers and magazines have to think how to attract more audince and grap their attention to be more succesful.
