How Wikipedia Works
You've all visited Wikipedia of course. What would you do without it? There's even a name for the people who write and edit pages for Wikipedia --- Wikipedians. You can see what a Wikipedian looks like on Facebook , which has several Wikipedian groups. Andrew Lih, an early Wikipedian himself and a former colleague of mine at Columbia, just wrote The Wikipedia Revolution: How a Bunch of Nobodies Created the World's Greatest Encyclopedia . Operating much like a a city, it is -- according to Andrew -- a "global community of passionate scribes." Do you trust what you find on Wikipedia?

It is amizing how wikipedia operates. I still remeber when my father bought a CD encyclopedia. Me and my brothers went crazy about it. it was the latest thing, we have access to " a lot" of information. but now with wikipedia we have access to "all" kind of information.
Personally, I start with wikipedia whenever I search for new topic. but I don't trust it 100%.Theses "bunch of nobodies" can creates mistakes or made up thing.
I wonder what does wikipedia means! any body know?
Actually, I’m with Ahlam I don’t trust Wikipedia in all information but I read the information that is provided on it just to get an idea about the things that I’m searching for. Then, I look for another sources in the internet that are trustworthy and I can get reliable information from.
As we know, what makes Wikipedia untrustworthy website is that Wikipedians can be anyone “including us” and this will affect the information that the “information seeker” exposed to and get. Here in the university our teachers alert us that we can’t trust Wikipedia, but in the schools they use Wikipedia as the main source for their assignments and reports and they don’t know that it may has unreliable information. The reason behind this, is that Wikipedia always appears in the first page in Google the most used research engine around the world
Hmmm, what does "wikipedia" mean? It entered the language so quickly I never bothered to find out. So thanks to Ahlam's curiosity, I goggled (another word both noun and verb that suddenly was everywhere). Wikipedia tells us that "wikipedia"is a blend of two words: "wiki (a technology for creating collaborative websites, from the Hawaiian word wiki, meaning 'quick') and encyclopedia." It's the same technology we've been using with the ZU Mirror wiki site.
Wikipedia is the best encyclopedia in the internet. As Huda said that our teachers in ZU alert us from Wikipedia, but I don’t think so because until now I didn’t find anything wrong in Wikipedia. When I’ve done a research about something the first site I look at is Wikipedia and then I check of the credibility of the information that I found, after that I found that all the information in Wikipedia in right!!
I don’t believe that Wikipedia incredible site.
