And Infomercial Winner Is.....

The A+ offered in the last post goes to Athra and Sara Saleh, who didn't waste any time after class in finding Obama's 30-minute infomercial on YouTube. And the informercial got a big A+ from American viewers. The New York Times called it "a smashing ratings succcess." It was even more popular than the last game of this month's World Series (baseball, America's national sport) and last year's American Idol finale!

Leslie Moonves, CBS chairman and the man who brought reality shows to TV, said, "I was shocked by the number Obama was able to draw. It's just a stunning number."

Sample the informercial on YouTube. What images do you think cut across cultures?

PS:
Athra and Sara Salem each will be awarded an A+.

I think images which would appear in Obama himself - the whole black / white issue as a socialist to "make everything equal'.

As 47-49% of Americans is considered middle class workers, I think the part of his speech about upgrading their life standard was the most touching to the majority of the public.

Or Maybe minorities all over could have a chance

Obama is really clever in how he play this “ Game” of speeches .. even though I still believe that he is the hope for America .. He is the change .. his balanced speeches and his wise picking of words add to him more positive points as the next president for the US .. not only that but his picking to the most sensitive issues in the US as a topics in his speeches make him even more acceptable to the majority of people

I just have to point out that Obama is a Democrat -- not a Socialist. Since the Bush Administration's October bail out of the banks, it's the Republicans that are looking like Socialists!

How funny...most of your comments are about what is SAID in the infomercial. But it's the images more than the words that are most powerful in commercials. The first thing that struck three of the COM profs as we watched the infomercial was how much Obama's office resembled the President's Oval Office. Subliminal. The eye and mind just can't help making the connection.
