Political ads are an important part of educating citizens in a democracy. Candidates use them to get their message across to voters. But sometimes the message gets nasty. "Attack ads," which began in the U.S. in the early 1960s, are negative advertising. They are intended to shape public opinion by smearing opponents, often by innuendo and false or exaggerated statements.
Now with the Web, attack ads have gone viral with demon sheep, an opponent portrayed as a hot-air blimp and Dubai "slave bosses." Examples The debate on the health insurance legislation in the U.S. is getting so heated, even the families of politicians are being featured in the attack ads.
In the highly competitive world of advertising, the pressure is always on for produce ads that create a buzz, but where's the line between edgy and unethical?

Ithink political Ads are leading to problems because it may use the picture of the presedent harm his reputation. Political attack ad is an advertisement whose message is meant as an attack against another candidate or political party. I think that in the uae newspapers we didnt have political attack ads at all.
Yeah that's right Fatima. Here in UAE we don't have attack ads because people believe in their leaders and respect them.I think political ads exist in the countries where the people vote for their leaders. What I mean is some people don't like their candidate so the attack him by ads.
I think Ads have to be on something commercial or entertainment more than political, because here we are opening new door for new conflicts to happen between people.
I do agree with Fatima and Noura, here in the UAE we do not have political attack ads.
But I think we do have political ads like congratulations ads for the Sheikhs for winning in races or rewards.
however, political ads in the UAE do not attack our sheikhs, because people here trust them.
Sorry, ladies, but you don't have attack ads here in the UAE, because you don't have campaigns and elections. People don't vote for their leaders. Fatima's sheikhs-in-the-news aren't political ads but PR. Political campaign ads are an important part in a democracy, because they help educate citizens about issues and candidates before they vote (libertarian press system). Political attack ads are unethical, but most political ads are not attack ads.
